PESHAWAR, Feb 1: Awami National Party will stage a “peace rally” here at Namak Mandi bazaar on Friday afternoon against the deteriorating law and order situation in the country.

In a press release issued here on Thursday, the party’s provincial general-secretary Mian Iftikhar Hussain said that due to the “unrealistic policies” of the government the soil of the Pakhtun had become a battlefield.

The peace-loving and non-violent Pakhtun nationalists would not allow the extremist elements to fulfil their designs.

Mr Hussain said the extremists were bent upon destroying the political, social, geographic, economic and cultural values of the region.

He said the ANP was organising the rally to raise a voice against lawlessness and the deteriorating law and order situation in the country, particularly in the North West Frontier Province.

The rally would be led by the central and provincial leadership of the ANP.

He appealed to the masses as well as the party workers to participate in the rally in large numbers.
