KARACHI, Feb 1: A drama festival was held at the Defence Authority Public School on Thursday with TV producer Haider Imam Rizvi as the chief guest. Students from a number of schools of the city participated in the event and enacted their plays.
The participant schools included Habib Public School, L’ecole School, St Patrick’s High School, Defence Authority Model School, Phase VII; Defence Authority Higher Secondary School, Phase IV, and the host DA Public School.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Rizvi appreciated the artistic skills, oratory and confidence of the young student artistes. He said the young generation had a tremendous potential and drive to excel in all fields of activity.
He praised the quality of presentation and selection of themes of the plays presented by the students in the festival. Mr Rizvi advised the students to maintain their moral values and cultural ethos while enacting dramas.
He particularly emphasized on the selection of themes for the plays which should reflect intellect, progressive vision and the cultural identity.
Earlier, the principal of the DA Public School, Iffat Rashid, in her address introduced the participating school teams to the audience and underlined the dynamic spirit behind the cultural programme.
She said the enlightened moderation and progressive spirit was the hallmark of the event.
The DHA’s education director, Brig (Retd) Muzffar-ul-Hasan, spoke on the significance of extra-curricular activities in making a successful personality.
`Chand Key Maseeha’, a play enacted by the Habib Public School, was adjudged third in the event. `In fane professor’ by St Patrick’s High School was declared second while the coveted first prize was bagged by L’ecole School on their play ‘First celebrity offline’.
The audience highly appreciated the wit, intellect and sense of humour demonstrated by students in the play. Veteran actor Mehmood Ali was among the jury to judge the efforts of the students.
At the end, the chief guest distributed shields among the winning teams while the principal of the host school presented souvenirs to the distinguished guests.
