During the last couple of weeks, three trolleys overturned between railway level crossing as a result of which traffic was turned to bypass roads for Jhang, Faisalabad and Kamalia. At least a dozen people died in accidents.
These trolleys become more dangerous at night in the absence of proper lighting system as they don’t have headlights or taillights. Moreover, they hardly give way to the vehicles coming from back or opposite side which cause traffic slowdown. Traffic policemen, instead of taking any action against them, take bribe and let them go.
New trolleys are of larger size than old ones so that more goods could be carried on them.
The recently constructed Toba-Gojra Road, which took more than a year to complete, has started breaking due to excessive axel weight of trolleys.
Public circles have urged the district nazim, DCO and DPO to take serious notice of this violation and ban them coming on roads.
