HYDERABAD, Jan 26: The investigation wing of the Market police is groping in the dark to find a girl student of the Sindh University. The student, Yusra Siddiqui, had gone to the university to collect a form for the Bachelor of Computer Science on January 19, and missing since then.
Despite the lapse of eight days none of the nominated accused, Sultan Raza Shah and Sheeraz, has been arrested by police.
Shah is originally resident of Sukkur and temporarily residing in Qasimabad and Sheeraz hails from Dadu and lives in Old Wahdat colony.
“We expect a major breakthrough regarding whereabouts of Sultan Raza Shah tonight because we believe that he (Sultan) and his friend Sheeraz are primarily responsible for it”, said a police officer.
He said: “We have not ruled out aspect of Yusra’s marriage with a student of her own choice but it is yet to be verified”.
Yusra Siddiqui, 19, daughter of Sardar Ahmed Siddiqui, a resident of Shahdadpuri Mohallah near the Memon hospital, had left for the campus on January 19 and did not return home.
The girl’s family mounted a search for her and came to know that she did reach the university on a point bus.
Police sources said that her father received a phone call from Sultan Raza Shah, who has now been nominated in the FIR under section 366, 365-B and 34 PCP along with her friend, Sheeraz, inquiring about Yusra who was scheduled to meet him at the university.Her father told Dawn that when they repeatedly dialled cell number and sent an SMS, they got a reply at 1:48 pm from the same number, informing the family members that she had been killed.
Sultan Raza Shah was in touch with the girls’ family for days and had even accompanied her brother, Saqib, to the Jamshoro police station for getting information about her.
“He talked to the SHO Jamshoro police station and ASI Aftab Memon for some time,” Saqib said. Since then he and Sheeraz have disappeared.
It has been verified by police and the girl’s father that Sultan Raza Shah had been a student of the university until 2005 when he obtained admission to B.Sc.
Mr Siddiqui claimed that Shah continued to pose himself as student of university until Yusra went missing.
“I have learnt that Sultan’s father, Khalid Raza Shah, is supporting his son in the matter but if it’s a matter of marriage then it should be disclosed accordingly”, said a police source.
The family had received last SMS when Yusra’s father was getting his FIR lodged.
It was stated in the SMS that girl was in Ranipur on January 23, and since then there was no contact.
