KARACHI, Jan 24: The four-day selection trials of Pakistan Davis team for next month’s tie against Philippines, begin at the clay courts of PTF tennis complex, Islamabad, on Thursday.
“The trials that were supposed to commence on Wednesday could not take place due to lengthy permission procedure from chairman POF Wah,” secretary PTF, Maj. Rashid Khan told Dawn.
“The trials have been shifted to PTF tennis complex in order to meet the deadline for submission of names by Jan 29,” he said.
He said the Davis Cup tie slated between Feb 9 to 11 at Manila, will be played at the synthetic surface which are near to clay courts.
Earlier, the PTF had announced to hold the trials in Karachi but succumbed to players’ pressure owing to poor conditions of CDGK Sports Complex courts and shifted the venue to Islamabad.
