Nazim asks police to control crime

MANDI BAHAUDDIN, Jan 24: District Nazim Riaz Asghar Warraich has directed the DPO to control the rising crime rate as the incidents of robberies have become too frequent.

Speaking at a district council meeting here on Tuesday night, he expressed concern over lawlessness and asked the police to crack down on outlaws. He also asked the DPO that he should bring the negligent police officials to book.

Earlier, union council nazims expressed concern over the crime incidence, especially robbery and kidnap for ransom.

ROBBERIES: There was no let-up in robberies in the district on Wednesday.

At Wasoo locality, five armed men entered Shabbir Gondal’s house from where they took away Rs350,000 in cash, 18 tolas of gold ornaments and cell phones.

Four robbers took away Rs150,000 worth of valuables from Muhammad Hayat’s house at Mauza Chunni. Robbers plundered cash and valuables in many other strikes in the district.

SCHOOLS: District steering committee chairman Basma Riaz Chaudhry said on Wednesday the Punjab government had provided Rs35 million for repairs of school buildings.

While the district administration had approved Rs100 million for 187 old buildings of schools, she said, adding that each MPA would be provided with Rs10 million to carry out works in their areas.
