Clarification

HYDERABAD, Jan 23: The Human Rights Commission of Pakistan, HRCP, has clarified that the chairperson of the commission, Ms Asma Jehangir, did not say in her speech at a seminar in Mirpurkhas on Monday that “agencies had picked up activists of HRCP and sent them to Guantanamo Bay,” as published on Tuesday in a Dawn report on the seminar.

The secretary general of the commission, Mr Iqbal Hyder, in a faxed statement on Tuesday, also said that no HRCP activist had ever been picked up or sent to Guantanamo by the agencies.
