KARACHI, Jan 23: Muttahida Qaumi Movement chief Altaf Husain has said that no ideology can be dependent on geographical boundaries but, in fact, it always transcends geographical borders. And restricting ideologies to geographic confines are unjust.
He was addressing a study circle with workers of the MQM unit of South Africa over the telephone on Monday.
Mr Hussain spoke on ideology, migration of people, allegiance to ideology and ideological vision on the occasion.
He claimed that Pakistan is considered an ideological country and its ideology is “Islam” while the total area of Pakistan consists of 803,940 square kilometers, and restricting the Islamic ideology to this area would not only mean imprisoning the ideology within such an area but would also be tyrannical and unjust by confining it to the frontiers of Pakistan. He said Islam is for the entire universe and for the welfare of the people living in it.
Altaf Husain emphasised that if the Islamic ideology had been only for Makkah and its peripheries, then the Prophet (PBUH) would not have sent his emissaries round the world, preaching Islam and, therefore, in his opinion, confining the Islamic ideology within the borders of Pakistan was no service to Islam.
He further said that, according to his knowledge, Islam is the religion of Rabbul Aalameen and Rahmat-ul-lil-Aalameen (PBUH). Therefore, he requested the religious scholars and intellectuals to guide him in this regard and convey their interpretation in simple language for his understanding to help him convey the ideology through study circles rather than indulging in jargons and rhetoric.
