LAHORE, Jan 19: The Higher Education Commission’s Committee on Development of Social Sciences reviewed the syllabus and development of social sciences and humanities in the public sector universities at the Punjab University here on Friday.
Committee’s chairman Dr Ishrat Husain presided over the meeting while PU registrar Prof Dr Mohammad Naeem and deans Prof Dr Dil Mohammad Malik, Prof Dr Mohammad Akram Chaudhry, Prof Dr Nayyer Raza Zaidi, Prof Dr Shaista Sonu Sirajuddin, Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Jadoon, Prof Dr Mugheesuddin Shaikh, Prof Dr Samar Fatima, Prof Dr Qalib Abid and Prof Ibrahim Khalid were also among the participants.
Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Jadoon highlighted the objectives and importance of the HEC policy in this regard.
Later, the committee chairman called on PU vice-chancellor Arshad Mahmood, who briefed him on the academic and infrastructure development at the university.
The VC said the pass marks had now been set at 40 per cent to make high standard of education, adding that the PU promoted research culture by implementing semester system.
Meanwhile, the PU started on-line video conferencing lecture from Hailey College of Commerce (HCC) to Gujranwala sub-campus, which was delivered to M.Com first semester students.—APP
