KARACHI, Jan 19: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad has said that education reforms should be introduced without over-burdening the students and parents as this would help attain the desired results and fulfill the mission of having better quality education besides harmonising the same with modern demands.

He was speaking at a high-level meeting held at the Governor’s House here on Friday where education reforms and efforts by the Sindh government in this regard came under discussion.

The meeting was attended by Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Federal Education Minister Javed Ashraf Kazi, Provincial Education Minister Dr Hameeda Khuhro, Principal Secretary Mohammed Saleem Khan and Secretary Education Sabhago Khan Jatoi.

The governor stressed that education system should be so devised that it could make students’ talent to flourish and discourage rot-learning.

He also emphasised on providing relief to parents in expenses relating to education of their siblings.

Javed Ashraf Kazi highlighted the salient features of the education reforms being introduced in the country, and recounted the steps being taken for bringing an improvement in the curriculum, introducing centralised examination system, etc.

He maintained that the standard of education in Pakistan was much lower than it was in the neighbouring country and there was a dire need for such measures.

He said modern methods were being introduced to help students have a clear concept about their subjects and enhance their talents.—APP
