LAHORE, Jan 18: Robbers and thieves struck 17 times and took away cash, jewellery and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees here on Thursday. Three robbers barged into a jewellery shop at Ittefaq Market in Shafeeqabad, held the owner and employees at gunpoint and escaped with jewellery worth over Rs500,000 besides three cell phones.

However, police have registered a robbery case of 22 tola jewellery and two cell phones on the complaint of owner Rana Arshad.

Robbers burst into army officer Ahmed Kamal’s house in the South Cantonment area, held the inmates at gunpoint and took away cash and jewellery worth thousands of rupees besides a car (LZN-3447).

Two robbers came to Atta General Store and got away with Rs120,000 and valuables at gunpoint.

Citizens were deprived of cash in thousands and cell phones in the Baghbanpura, Shalimar, Nishtar Colony, Factory Area, Civil Lines, Lower Mall, Sabzazar, Liaquatabad, Garhi Shahu, Model Town, North Cantonment and Iqbal Town areas, respectively.
