CHICAGO, Jan 18: A second US soldier has pleaded guilty in the rape and murder of an Iraqi girl and the execution of her family, the soldier's lawyer said on Thursday. Sergeant Paul Cortez, 24, pleaded guilty for his role in the March 12, 2006 slayings in Mahmoudiyah, Iraq, lawyer William Cassara said. He added his client would now avoid the death penalty.—AFP
