MARDAN, Jan 17: A case has been formulated against the executive education officer of Mardan by the area nazim, Himayatullah Mayar, over alleged irregularities in appointments. The case will be sent to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) soon.
This was claimed by the nazim during a press conference on Wednesday in his office. More than 500 male and female teachers, including many who could not qualify tests and interviews, were recruited on favouritism, he alleged, adding about the number of persons recruited exceeded the quota allowed.
He condemned the education department as well as the provincial government for “bypassing” the district government on the issue of the appointments.
Differences between the district and provincial governments surfaced recently when Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani bypassed the district government vis-à-vis preparations for his visit to the area. Matters pertaining to the CM’s visit were dealt with by MNAs and MPAs.
The nazim, in retaliation, called a meeting of the District Council the same day to keep the JUI-F-affiliated nazims away from the visit.
