KHAAR, Jan 17: Residents of the Bajaur Agency came out on the roads on Wednesday to protest against the three-day-long power breakdown in their area.

The roads that were blocked for several hours included the Khaar-Timergara road. The protestors raised slogans against the authorities and also burnt tyres.

Tribal elder Haji Abdur Rahim Khan said that due to the continuous power breakdown, the tribesmen faced a lot of problems. He said the authorities were reminded of the persisting problem but no action was taken.

The political authorities held talks with the protesters to convince them to end their protest demonstration, but they refused. They said the blockade would be lifted only after power was restored to their areas.

Later, on the directives of the political administration, the Wapda restored the power supply, after which the protesters dispersed peacefully.
