KARACHI, Jan 13: The Pakistan Women Lawyers’ Association (Pawla) marked its silver jubilee by holding a seminar here at Faridi hall in premises of the Sindh High Court on Saturday, which was largely attended by the women lawyers.

Prominent among the speakers were Pawla president Rashida Mohammad Hussain Patel, Zaib Javed, Humaira Chapra, Noor Naz Agha and Abida Mehmood and Afroze Haq.

They said that the association basically focussed on provision of legal aid to women, creation of legal awareness and law reforms, adding that it had always offered services to alleviate the sufferings of oppressed women, especially those being faced with legal disputes, domestic violence, and other serious domestic problems.

They said that during the last 25 years about 12,000 cases pertaining to women sufferings had been registered with the Pawla’s offices across the country and many of them had been resolved through reconciliation only by sending notices to the opposite parties.
