Two banks announce profit rates

KARACHI, Jan 13: National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) on Saturday announced profit rates on PLS deposits for the period ended December 31, 2006, says a press release.

Special notice deposits: 7 to 29 days (1.20pc) and over 30 days (1.20pc).

Saving accounts: Up to Rs20,000 (0.20pc); above Rs20,000 (1.20pc).

Term deposits: Three months (1.50pc); Six months (1.80pc); one year (2pc); two years (2.30pc); three years (2.60pc); four years (2.90pc); five years (3.30pc); and above five years (4pc).

Soneri Bank: PLS savings account: (4pc). Soneri savings accounts: Over Rs25,000 to Rs1m (4pc); over Rs1m to Rs10m (5pc); over Rs10m (6pc).

Notice deposits: 7 days (4pc) and 30 days (4.50pc).

Term deposits: 1 month (4.50pc); 3 months (5pc); 6 months (5.50); one year (6pc), two years (6.25pc); three years (6.50pc); four years (6.75pc), five years (7pc).

Certificates of deposits: Three years (10pc profit payable half yearly).

Six years Sarmaya certificates: 1st year (6pc); 2nd year (6.50pc), 3rd year (7pc); 4th year (8pc); 5th year (9.50pc); and 6th year (11.50pc).

Golden deposit certificates (5-year): Profit payable monthly 11.50pc.
