KASUR, Jan 10: A sub-inspector was killed in an encounter with the robbers who were fleeing after a dacoity attempt while one of their accomplices was arrested here on Wednesday in Mustafabad police precincts.
Reports said Salman was on his way to Lakhnay Kay village from Havaili Nathowalli by his motorcycle (LZS-4676). Near Buj Rajba, three dacoits intercepted him, deprived him of his bike, cash and cell phone at gunpoint and moved towards Mustafabad Town.
In the meantime, Salman managed to inform the police. A team intercepted the dacoits, who were riding the snatched motorcycle, near Mustafabad police station. During a shootout, SI Muhammad Qasim suffered serious injuries and died on way to hospital. The team arrested one of the dacoits, Naveed, during the encounter.
Police also recovered a pistol and the snatched motorcycle while two of his accomplices managed their escape.
Kasur DPO Syed Ahmed Mobin has constituted a team, headed by DSP Sadar circle Tahir Nawaz Warraich, Saddar and Mustafabad SHOs for the arrest of the two dacoits.
Mr Mobin has announced Rs1.4 million for the family of SI Qasim. A sum of Rs0.6 million will be collected from the contribution of one-day salary of all police employees in Kasur district.
The IGP will give Rs0.5 million and Rs0.3 million will be received from the government fund.
GENERAL HOLDUP: Kasur police claimed to have arrested 28 proclaimed offenders, 27 court absconders and 39 others for possessing illicit arms during a general holdup on Tuesday night.
Police also recovered illegal weapons and narcotics, including 2kg heroin, and 100 bottles of liquor.
