KARACHI: Agha Juice owner found shot dead

KARACHI, Jan 10: A young man was found dead in mysterious circumstances several kilometers off the National Highway in the vicinity of the steel mills here on Wednesday evening.

The young man initially thought to be a foreigner due to his features was later identified as Agha Ghulam Ali, 25, belonging to a Mughal Hazara family and resident of DHA Phase IV.

TPO Bin Qasim, SSP Aleem Jafri said that a car bearing registration number (ALV-424) was found with its indicators on. A pistol and the casing of a fired cartridge were found from the car, the SSP said.

The young man was sitting on the driving seat with an exit wound on the right side of the temple, the glass of the door on the driver’s side was broken falling outside the car suggesting that the bullet was fired from inside the vehicle, said a senior police official of the Investigation Wing.

Since the killing of his father, who owned the Agha Juice chain who died in a sectarian attack a few years ago in Nazimabad all the brothers used to carry licensed weapons, the police official said.

Quoting family sources the senior police official said about 15 days ago Agha Ghulam Ali was badly beaten by some persons when he was examining his car after opening its hood. His car was also damaged, the police official said.

On Wednesday, against his normal routine, Ghulam Ali went out of the house saying that he going to an ATM to withdraw cash, and went missing. According to the victim’s wife, he returned home on Tuesday night seemingly disturbed. The deceased’s wife is expecting.

A senior investigator said committing suicide after such a long drive away from the city didn’t make any sense. He pointed out that the cellphone which was used by the deceased was not found from his car, a Chevrolet Joy.

The body was sent to the Jinnah hospital in an Edhi ambulance for postmortem.

Some close family friends present in the hospital ruled out the possibility of suicide saying that he was abducted by unknown people some days ago.
