PESHAWAR, Jan 6: The provincial government under the new provincial agriculture policy had formed horticulture and livestock groups that would play important roles in the formulation of the National Agriculture Project (NAP), DG Agriculture Extension Allahdad Khan said on Saturday.

Under the policy, he said, steps were being taken to promote off season vegetables and their packing and grading, adding that the private sector had been provided opportunities to increase domestic farm production. He was addressing a day-long workshop organised by NAP here.

Director NAP Arshad Hussain Hashmi stressed the need for ascertaining people’s views and said it was vital to devise a useful agribusiness policy, adding that it would not only strengthen domestic economy but also prove helpful in attaining self-sufficiency in the agriculture sector.—APP
