KARACHI, Jan 5: The National Programme for Improvement of Watercourse (NPIW) in Sindh on Friday said it was making `all-out efforts’ for the repair of watercourses damaged during the recent rains.
In a statement issued to explain its position after the publication of a picture in Wednesday’s Dawn about a damaged watercourse in Thatta, a spokesman for the agency said the damage was not caused by any negligence on its part. Heavy rains had caused the damage, the spokesman said.
The statement further said that 6,000 watercourses had been completed by Dec 31 in the province.
