ALGECIRAS (Spain) Feb 18: A commando of the British Royal Navy “invaded” a Spanish beach by accident during a military exercise.

The 30 marines armed with assault rifles and mortars had targeted the coast of the British enclave of Gibraltar, but landed on a Spanish beach by mistake.

The marines had intended to penetrate inside Gibraltar to confront an imaginary enemy there. Local fishermen and Spanish police informed the marines who left after realizing their error. —dpa
