KARACHI, Dec 31: Yasir Khan who represented the country in Davis Cup tie against Taipei in Feb 2006 has amassed 95 points to top men’s provincial ranking released at the end of year by the Sindh Tennis Association (STA) on Sunday.
Bearded Danish Ahmed finished runners up with 65 points followed by Nomi Qamar (55) and Nasir Mushtaq (40).
Nomi also staged a comeback in the Davis Cup team that toured China in Sept. Similarly, Nasir went on to represent the country in junior Davis Cup at Thailand in April.
According to STA secretary, Khalid Rehmani, winner of an Open tournament gets 35 points while 30 points are awarded to winner of other provincial competitions. The points are given up to pre quarter-finals.
Seher Khwaja topped the ladies category securing 95 points. Anam Saeed had to be content with second slot with 50 points followed by Mechico Domichi (45) and Eman Malik (40).
Syed Abbas Raza accumulated 100 points to head juniors U-17. The second place was shared by Abbas’s younger brother Zuhair and Nasir Mushtaq (65) while Ghulam Abbas was third with (50). Three players – Jahangir Rasheed, Mateen Arif and Hasham Khan - were tied at the fourth position with 40 points.
