LAHORE, Dec 29: More than 8,000 policemen have been deployed in the city to maintain law and order on Eidul Azha and New Year eve. Presiding over a meeting here on Friday, AIG Khalid Farooq said strict security measures had been taken to prevent any untoward incident on the occasions. He said the policemen would perform duty outside 3,500 masajid, markets and business centres. No one would be allowed to take law into hand on the New Year eve, he added.

He directed all divisional SPs to monitor the security arrangements in the areas of their jurisdiction. He said the traffic police had already laid a comprehensive programme for smooth flow of traffic. — Staff Reporter
