LAHORE, Dec 29: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) has condemned what it said barbaric treatment meted out to the relatives of the “missing people” in Rawalpindi on Thursday and asked the Supreme Court to take suo moto action of the “shameful” incident.

In a resolution adopted by the general house on Friday, the LHCBA said police tortured the people protesting against the “disappearances” of their relatives allegedly by secret agencies several months ago, and no civilised government could even think of doing such an inhuman act.

“The shameful act shows there is no civilised government in the country and the people at the helm of the affairs have no respect for law,” the resolution stated.

The LHCBA said it was concerned about the “disappearances” and added a picture carried by national dailies showing police beating and stripping Muhammad bin Masood, whose father had been missing for several months, had enraged the people.
