LAHORE, Dec 29: District Nazim Mian Amer Mahmood has ordered a crackdown on storage of hides and skins along roadsides and processing of meat by burning tyres during the Eid days.
Presiding over a meeting at the Jinnah Hall on Friday to review sanitation arrangements during Eidul Azha, he said that tents housing skins and hides should be removed and hearths built for processing parts of sacrificial animals should be demolished.
Briefing the district nazim about the sanitation plan, Solid Waste Management (SWM) District Officer Dr Tufail Siddiqi said that the leave of entire sanitation staff had been cancelled and 350 vans were hired to remove sacrificial animals’ waste. Additional skips will be placed to dump waste. An SWM control room will receive complaints regarding the removal of waste on telephone No 139.
SALE: The district nazim has imposed a ban on sale of sacrificial animals at unauthorised places for two days from Saturday (today) under Section 144 CrPC for security reasons.
In a notification issued here, the district nazim said that it had been made to appear to him that the sale of sacrificial animals at unauthorised places was not only a security hazard but also created hazards in smooth flow of traffic. The sale of sacrificial animals is, therefore, banned at all places other than China Scheme, Main Road, in Shalimar Town, Lahore Township Civic Centre in Nishtar Town, Ghazi Abad Doongi Ground in Aziz Bhatti Town, Shahdara Match Factory in Ravi Town, Kot Kamboh Bakar Mandi and Johar Town Expo Centre in Allama Iqbal Town, Saggian Bridge in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, Sherakot on Bund Road in Samanabad Town, Peco Road in Gulberg Town and Daroghawala Chowk to Manwan stretch of GT Road in Wagah Town. — Reporter
