130th birth anniversary of Quaid observed

ISLAMABAD, Dec 26: The 130th birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was celebrated on Monday with great enthusiasm and national spirit. Special prayers were offered in the mosques for the soul of Quaid-i-Azam , and for prosperity and solidarity of the country.

Various political, social and cultural organizations arranged seminars and meetings to observe the Quaid's birthday anniversary in a befitting manner.

The birth anniversary of Quaid-i-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was also celebrated in all provincial capitals, the AJK and at district and tehsil levels with national zeal.

President Gen Pervez Musharraf on Monday visited the mausoleum of the Quaid to pay homage to the Father of the Nation.

He laid a wreath at the mazar and offered fateha. President Musharraf is the first president to visit the mazar on the birth anniversary of the Quaid.

Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz also visited the mausoleum of the Quaid, laid a wreath and offered fateha.

Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim, Minister for Information Muhammad Ali Durrani, Special Adviser to PM Commander (retd) Khalil-ur-Rehman and senior civil and military officers also visited the mazar of the Quaid-i-Azam.

Veteran activists of Tehrik-i-Pakistan and others commemorated the great services of the Quaid for the Muslims of the Subcontinent. The leaders of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and other organisations of occupied Kashmir also paid rich tribute to the Quaid.

Declamation contests were arranged in various districts and tehsils in which speakers highlighted the struggle and tireless efforts of the Quaid that led to the creation of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the Subcontinent.—APP
