LONDON, Dec 22: Tens of thousands of air passengers were still facing Christmas chaos on Friday as thick fog led to cancellations and serious delays at British airports. But good news could be on the horizon — Britain's Meteorological Office is predicting that the foggy situation should start to improve by Saturday.

That would give airlines a couple of days to clear the backlog of delayed festive travellers ahead of Christmas Day on Monday.

“Conditions should begin a tentative improvement during the course of Saturday morning and, more particularly, Saturday afternoon,” said forecaster Anton Muscat.

“As we go into Sunday, the chances are that conditions will improve markedly.”London's Heathrow airport has been worst affected by the freak weather conditions, with more than 300 flights cancelled Friday as delays extended into a third day.—AFP
