PESHAWAR, Dec 20: A housing scheme has been launched for the widows of the Frontier Corps soldiers who lost their lives during operations in the Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

According to a press release issued here on Wednesday, a total of 86 five-marla houses would be constructed for the relatives of the slain soldiers in their native villages. Maj-Gen Mohammad Alam Khattak, the chief of FC, recently laid the foundation stone of a house for the widow of lance naik Zafar Ali near Nowshera.

On the occasion, Maj-Gen Khattak said a handsome welfare package had been worked out, including financial assistance of Rs1.1 million, free education for the children of the slain men and medical facilities for their families. The sons of the soldiers would be offered jobs in the FC and their daughters would be given assistance for their dowry.

He added that a “Shaheed Fund” had been set up for the well-being of the families concerned.—Bureau Report
