LAHORE, Dec 18: The Public Health Engineering Department will lay a 38-kilometre-long pipeline for supplying two million gallons of drinking water daily to Murree from Jhelum river at a cost of Rs3 billion by December, 2007.
This was stated during a meeting held here to review the progress of ongoing works on Monday with provincial minister Hasan Akhtar Mokal in chair.
The minister was informed that an underground tank with a storage capacity of 9,20,000 gallons was also being built at Patriata as part of the water-supply project. A filtration plant would also be installed at the source with five lift-pumps between the river and the hill station.
