LAHORE, Dec 16: Punjab Police and Sukh Chan entered the final of R.G Hyder Polo Cup after winning two matches each of two chukkers apiece on Saturday.
Three-goal Saqib Khan Khakwani enabled Punjab Police to beat Lindt Chocolate 4-2 in the first match. Faaiz Rahim Khan added the fourth goal as Police had gained 4-0 lead in the first chukker. The losers reduced the margin in the second chukker when Asif Zahoor banged home twice.
Saqib also scored two against Limited Editions as Police won the second match 4-1. Shaukat Ali Malik and Faaiz Rahim Khan were the other scorers. For the losers, Ahmed Ali Tiwana struck the lone goal.
In first match, Sukh Chan crushed Soya Supreme by six goals to half as Waqas Nadir struck three goals. Shah Qubilai Alam pumped in two goals while Taimur Ali Malik chipped in with one. The losers failed to add any goal into their half goal handicap.Shah Qubilai Alam scored two more against Goodwill Foods to help Sukh Chan win with a clear margin 4-1 in the second match of the day. Taimur Ali Malik and Waqar Nadir contributed one goal each. Kamran Nooruddin scored the solitary goal for the losers.The final will be played on Sunday.
Cosa Nostra and Master Paints also moved into the subsidiary final. Two-goal Sameer Habib Oberoi guided Cosa Nostra to 4 1/2-1 win over Lindt Choclate. Hissam Ali Hyder and Junaid Ahmad scored one each for the winners, who had a half-goal handicap. Asif Zahoor reduced the margin for the losers.
Costa Nostra, however, lost the second match to Limited Editions 2- 1 1/2.
Asif Tiwana and Ahmed Ali Tiwana shared the scoring honours for the winners. Hissam Ali Farrukh scored one goal for Cosa Nostra, who had half-goal handicap.
Four-goal Shah Shamyl Alam propelled Master Paints into the subsidiary final, beating Diamond Paints 8- 3 1/2 in a four chukker match. Ashfaq (2) and Sufi Mohammad Haris (2) were the other scorers for the winners. Diamond Paints, having half-goal handicap, scored through Iftikhar Ali Khan (2) and Ahmad Nawaz Tiwana (1).
