RAWALPINDI, Oct 18: National Bank needed just 5.5 overs Thursday to finish off Allied Bank as they cruised to an innings and 111-run victory in their Patron’s Trophy Grade-I match at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
Allied Bank, who were precariously placed at 115 for five, were bowled out for 137, Zahid Saeed removing both the overnight batsmen Aamir Hanif and Aley Haider cheaply and then dismissing skipper Aqib Javed for nought. He had figures of four for 41.
But it was paceman Shabbir Ahmed who topped the list of wicket-takers taking four for 37 to finish with a match haul of 7-97.
Behind by 133 runs when they resumed their second innings, Allied Bank batsmen were unable to stand their ground and yielded to the rival bowlers in quick time.
