ISLAMABAD, Feb 16: The Central Board of Revenue has cancelled all National Tax Number (NTN) certificates/ cards issued to taxpayers up to the year 1998 with immediate effect.
According to a circular issued by the board on Saturday, holders of such old certificates/ cards, who have not obtained new certificates, would now have to file fresh applications to get new National Tax Number certificates/ cards having life-time validity.
The decision has been taken due to the non-availability of the facility of re-issuance of such cards/certificates.
The Central Board of Revenue also advised the taxpayers of Karachi and Lahore to get their new National Tax Number certificates/cards from PRAL’s regional offices established in both the cities.
