Punjab Governor Khalid Maqbool said this while welcoming the schoolchildren participating in a walk organised by the SOS Children’s Village for raising funds for the orphaned children at the Governor’s House on Sunday.
The governor said the children participating in the walk had acted in accordance with the Islamic tradition of helping the helpless.
Eulogising the services rendered by the SOS Children’s Village for the welfare of the orphaned children, he announced a donation of Rs100,000 for it. He also gave commendation certificates to students of Lahore Convent, Chand Bagh Public School, Muridke, Lahore Institute of Education and NG Public School, Liberty, for raising Rs200,000 for the SOS Children’s Village.
The children were entertained by gymnastic and circus shows and national songs. SOS Children’s Village principal Surraya Anwar and chief secretary’s wife Rukhsana Suleman also participated in the walk. —APP
