QUETTA, Dec 1: The Ittehadul Madaris Al-Arabia Pakistan (Imap) will keep itself away from politics and sectarianism as it is only providing religious and worldly education to people.

This was announced by Imap secretary-general Mufti Atiqur Rehman at a press conference on Friday.

He said that today’s politics lacked principles and morality preached by the prophets and therefore the ulema and teachers of Ittehadul Madaris could not take part in it.

He said that 4,000 seminaries were working under the Ittehadul Madaris and the institution was making concerted efforts to provide religious education alongside the modern knowledge so that its graduates could play a positive role in society.

Mufti Atiq condemned the West for its allegation that religious schools were training students for terrorist acts and suicide attacks.

He said that keeping in view the world situation Imap had decided to introduce reforms in its system so that students graduating from seminaries were not confined to madressah or mosque.
