LAHORE, Nov 28: Efforts by the Pakistan Railways high-ups to counter locomotive drivers’ ongoing “go-slow” move have yet to bear fruit as major trains continued arriving here late from three to nine hours on Tuesday.

The Karachi Express (15-Up) arrived here nine hours after its scheduled time of 10.50am, the Karakoram Express (41-Up) was four hours and 20 minutes late, the Jaffar Express (39-Up) four hours, the Quetta Express (23-Up) three hours and 20 minutes, the Tezgam (7-Up) four hours and 30 minutes, the Allama Iqbal Express ((9-Up) three hours and 45 minutes while the Buraq Express (43-Up) was four hours late.

New Trains: Two new express trains will be run between Peshawar Cantt and Rawalpindi from Dec 5.

The all-economy-class trains would be called morning and evening Peshawar expresses, officials at the Railways Lahore headquarters said on Tuesday.

The Morning Peshawar Express (175-Up) would leave Peshawar Cantt station at 7:30am and reach Rawalpindi at 10:30am. The Evening 176-Down would leave Rawalpindi at 11:45am and reach Peshawar Cantt at 2:15pm.

The Evening Peshawar Express (177-Up) would leave Peshawar Cantt station at 3pm and reach Rawalpindi at 6pm. The Evening 178-Down would leave Rawalpindi at 6:45pm and reach Peshawar Cantt at 9:15pm. —Staff Reporter
