Resignation not the only option, says Fazl

DI KHAN, Nov 27: The Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) will consider the opinion of other opposition parties before taking any decision on the issue of resigning from the assemblies. This was stated by MMA central leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman at a press conference at his residence here on Monday.

"ARD and PML-N are pressurising us not to resign from the assemblies and join hands with the opposition for launching a countrywide movement against the government. They believe that the MMA should tender resignations along with other opposition parties at an opportune time,” he said, adding: “So before taking any decision in this regard, we will consider the opinion of other opposition parties. The issue will also be discussed with the component parties of the religious alliance at a parliamentary party meeting.”

"We are also considering other options than resignations." he remarked.

To a question, the MMA leader said that the PPP Parliamentarians had committed political suicide by supporting government on the Protection for Women’s Rights bill. It had lost people’s confidence, he added.—Online
