KOHAT, Nov 26: A shopkeeper in Lachi town of KDA Township was taken for a Rs500,000 ride on Sunday. Tariqur Rehman, the victim, runs a general store and supplies food items to the Cadet College Kohat.
Mr Rehman told the Jangle Khel police that he received a phone call from an unknown person who told him that he had huge stocks of ghee and sugar, seized during a failed bid to smuggle them to Afghanistan.
He was told that if he was interested in buying the stocks, he should bring Rs500,000 at the KDA gate 2. He said he and his accountant reached the place where two men were waiting for them.
“One of them asked my accountant to come with him, check the stocks and pay the money. After some time, the other person, who was standing with me, disappeared. Soon I saw my accountant return empty-handed,” he said.
“When asked about the stocks, my accountant told me that the man showed him the stocks in a house and took the payment. Then, the accountant said, he asked him to wait for a moment, but did not return,” alleged Mr Rehman.
