LAHORE, Nov 23: An accountability court on Thursday declared former Wapda chief Lt-Gen Zahid Ali Akbar (retired) a proclaimed offender, and directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to provide details of his properties till Nov 28.
Earlier, the court had rejected his application seeking withdrawal of arrest warrants and suspending a process declaring him a proclaimed offender besides exempting him from personal appearance because he was under treatment in England.
Akbar is accused of corruption as Wapda and PCB chairman from 1987 to 1992. NAB found that he had assets worth Rs176 million in his name and in the names of his dependants. These include 77 bank accounts in rupees and dollars in Pakistan in his name and in the names of his relatives, as well as business concerns. —APP
