Pakistan, Romania to enhance cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Nov 21: Pakistan and Romania can benefit from each other’s experiences in various fields and exchange of delegations of Parliamentarians, civil society organisations, journalists, students, etc., would help further strengthen and consolidate the existing close and cordial relations between the two countries.

It was observed in a meeting held between the Deputy Prime Minister of Romania Mr. Bogdan Pascu and the Chairman Senate Mohammedmian Soomro here on Tuesday.

During the meeting, both emphasized that a wide scope exists for upgradation and expansion of relations between the two countries especially in the fields of trade and commerce. They said that both countries could also benefit from sharing of experience and best practices in agriculture, IT industry, energy, housing and construction.

The Chairman Senate said that Pakistan highly valued its relations with Romania which are moving from strength to strength and the visit of Romanian Deputy Premier would enhance bilateral cooperation and lead to greater cultural and economic collaboration between the two countries. He complimented the Romanian leadership on attaining European Union membership.

Mr. Soomro also recalled his visit to Romania taking place last year when he led a Parliamentary delegation to that country and recounted his fruitful exchange of ideas with a cross section of the Romania society and the government officials.

He said that the visit of Romanian Deputy Prime Minister would help re-invigorate economic relations between Pakistan and Romania.

Romanian Deputy Prime Minister Bogdan Pascu informed the Chairman Senate that the Romanian delegation had held very fruitful meetings with Pakistani authorities and the members of the delegation were fully convinced that there existed many possibilities for further enhancing and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.

He said that the business of real estate was one of the flourishing business in Romania and that the two countries could benefit from each other’s experiences in this area.

Later, the Senate Chairman hosted a luncheon for the Romanian Deputy Prime Minister which was attended by deputy Chairman Senate Jan Muhammad Khan Jamali, Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Salim Saifullah Khan, senators, MNAs and others.
