HARIPUR, Oct 18: The district Nazim, Dr Raja Amir Zaman, on Thursday presented a revised budget of Rs204.5 million for the district council of Haripur for the fiscal year 2001-2.

Half of the total budget has been allocated for development activities in the district.

Presenting the budget before the district council, which met here with its convener Muhammad Riaz Khan Jadoon in the chair, Amir Zaman said that the financial resources would be distributed among the 44 union councils.

He said that Rs48.6 million would be spent on new schemes identified and recommended by the members of the council.

Expenditure on the ongoing schemes has been estimated at Rs29.1 million, while the new development projects, to be identified by the citizen community board, are to receive Rs24.3 million.

Highlighting the income resources of the district government, the Nazim said that under section 107 of the Local Government Ordinance, 2001, Rs117.4 million were transferred from the now defunct district council to the local fund of the new district government, while income for the current fiscal year was estimated at Rs87.1 million.

He said that Rs13 million would be received from land transfer and cattle fare fees. This amount will be transferred to the tehsil municipal administration of Haripur, while the revenues to be received from bus stand Ghazi, cattle fare Khallo and land transfer fees Ghazi would be provided to the tehsil municipal administration of Ghazi.

Proposing an allocation of Rs73.4 million for fiscal transfers, the district Nazim said that out of this amount Rs61.9 million, which is expected to be received under the district council tax share, would be disbursed to the union councils of the district in monthly instalments for development purpose.
