9 policemen held after prisoner’s escape

SUKKUR, Nov 16: Nine policemen were sent to the lock-up on Thursday following the escape of an under-trial prisoner of the Sukkur central jail-I from the Ghotki district and sessions court.

The prisoner, Ali Bux Mahar, had been taken to the court for hearing in a murder case.

The prisoner, who was sitting in the court with police, managed to take off handcuffs and escape.

Police chased him but failed to capture him.

Following the escape of the prisoner, an FIR was registered at the Ghotki police station against nine policemen.

They were identified as Ilam Din, Ali Roshan, Ganhwar Khan, Abdul Jabbar, Niaz Ali, Shahzado, Abdul Hameed, Mohammad Bux and Ali Abbas.

The policemen were arrested and kept in the lockup of the Ghotki police station.

An investigation was underway in this connection.

KILLED: A man was killed by armed men while he offered resistance to them in Godho Gabole village in the Mirpur Mathelo police area on Thursday.

A group of armed thieves entered into the village, barged the house of Wahid Bux Gabole and tried to rob the households.

The inmates woke up and offered resistance to them on this the thieves opened fire, killing Wahid Bux Gabole on the spot.

Abdul Hameed Gabole, brother of the deceased, registered FIR against unknown thieves.
