BEIJING, Oct 18: A foreign ministry spokesman on Thursday denied the press reports that China changed its visa policy towards Pakistan or any other Muslim country.
“There is no question of any change in the visa policy,” he said while taking to APP here.
However, he admitted that some adjustments were made in the policy for security reasons after Sept 11 terrorist attack on United States.
He also dispelled the impression that the government had issued instructions to the mainland airlines, prohibiting issues of tickets to travellers from Muslim countries.
He blamed the airlines for misunderstanding a directive, about barring travellers from Pakistan and some other countries, issued after the attacks in the US.
Neither the Foreign Ministry nor the Civil Aviation Administration of China had asked the airlines to ban passengers from some countries, he said.—APP
