HYDERABAD, Nov 14: The controller of examinations of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) announced here on Tuesday the result of the Higher Secondary Certificate Part-I (class-XI) annual examination 2006 of pre-medical, pre-engineering and science general groups.
A total of 12,546 students of the pre-medical group appeared in the examination and only 5,735 passed. The result of 374 students was withheld by the conduct branch and that of 141 was withheld due to copying cases.
A total of 7,590 students of pre-engineering group appeared in the examination and only 3,707 managed to get through in all the six papers while the result of 310 was withheld by the conduct branch and that of 82 was withheld due to copying cases.
Six hundred and twenty students of science general group appeared in the examination, 206 were declared successful in all the six papers and the result of nine was withheld by conduct branch.
CORNER SET UP: The University of Sindh Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mazharul Haq Siddiqui inaugurated on Tuesday Begum Akhtar Jabeen Corner set up in the library of Marui Girls Hostel.
Begum Akhtar Jabeen Siddiqui, wife of the vice chancellor and patron-in-chief of Samaji Behbood Khawateen Tanzeem, has donated 400 rare books to the library.
Dr. Siddiqui underlined the importance of libraries for the development of a society and urged the girls to play their role in the development of libraries. He said that his family would contribute more books to Marui library and announced a donation of Rs10,000 for the purchase of books.
Deputy Provost Marui Girls Hostel Prof Dr Qamar Jehan Mirza, Registrar Mohammad Saleh Rajar, Hostel Provost Prof Dr. M. Siddiq Kalhoro and a number of senior professors and officials attended the inauguration ceremony.
SCIENCE CONFERENCE: The Sindh Agriculture University of Tandojam announced on Tuesday that the third national agricultural and animal sciences conference would be held at the campus on Nov 21.
A spokesman for the university said that over 200 scholars and agriculturists from different institutions of the country would read papers on different aspects.
