LAHORE, Nov 13: The final round of the Debating Society of Pakistan’s Raziuddin Sheikh National Debating Championship (under 19) has been won by Beaconhouse School, DHA, and Aitchison College.
Held at the old building of the Aitchison College, this year’s topic for the finals was: “This house believes that all profits generated by the government in Gwadar should be used for the development of Balochistan.”
The Aitchison team comprised Zeeshan Haider, Umar Meeraj and Haider Naqvi. The Beaconhouse team consisted of Osama Mukaram, Adeel Shehryar and Ali Hanan. The finalists survived from teams from Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad. Previously teams from Peshawar have also taken part in this competition.
The awards were distributed by chief guest Syed Babar Ali, a patron of education and founding member of LUMS. Awards were also presented to best speaker of the competition, Ansar Aftab and to judge Taimur Banday for taking time out to facilitate the cause of debates in Pakistan.
