SAHIWAL, Nov 13: A bailiff of the district and sessions court on Monday raided a kiln at Harappa Town and recovered 28 bonded labourers, including five women and as many girls.

Ghulam Qadir, brother of labourer Abdul Rehman, in his writ petition filed under 491 CRPC, had prayed to the court that kiln owner Chaudhry Muhammad Rafiq had employed workers from Hasilpur, Bahawalpur and illegally detained them.

Court bailiff Zahoor Ahmed Prince conducted a raid and recovered them who have been identified as Abdul Rehman, Tahir Rehman, Faqir Muhammad, Fazalur Rehman, Nazir Ali, Muhammad Ramzan, Bashir Ahmed, Shahzad Ahmed, Munir Ahmed, Fateh Muhammad, Shahnaz Siddiqi, Saidaan, Nawab Bibi, Ghulam Fatima, Kalsoom, Abida, Shamim Akhtar, Nainan, Robina, Aziza, Juma Khan, Nawab Khan, Tufail, Munir, Zahoor Ahmed, Abdullah, and Sher Muhammad.

The judge directed the Harappa SHO, kiln owner Rafiq and his assistant Nadeem to appear in the court on Tuesday (today). Most of the labourers had been found chained. — Correspondent
