HYDERABAD, Nov 11: Condemning the dispossession and detention of villagers by the Petaro Cadet College authorities, elected representatives of the Jamshoro district have demanded that a false case registered against District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar and other villagers should be withdrawn and arrested villagers, who are being subjected to torture by police, should be released immediately.
They demanded that the principal of the college should be removed and legal action be taken against him to save the prestigious institution.
MNA Ghani Talpur said that he would strongly protest in the National Assembly session on Monday.
In a statement faxed to Dawn on Saturday, he said that Cadet College Petaro Principal Commodore (rtd) Abid Saleem had destroyed the peace of the Jamshoro district by deploying security forces in Safar Khaskheli goth.
He said that the action of the principal was having a negative affect on the academic activities at one of the old cadet colleges in the country.
Mr Talpur said that the land had always been given by holding open kutchehris as per the rules and regulations but several hundred acres of land had been given on lease to the college at the rate of Rs10,000 per acre.
He said that allotment orders were issued on an incorrect report of the Jamshoro EDO revenue.
The MNA rejected the statement of the EDO revenue that there was no settlement on the said land and wondered that when no population was living there then whose houses had been demolished.
He appealed to the chief justice of the Supreme Court to take suo moto notice of the matter and order a judicial inquiry into the matter to ensure justice to the people.
He regretted that although Malik Asad Sikandar was a member of the Petaro College Board, but he had never been invited to attend any meeting.
He said that had Malik Asad Sikandar been requested to provide land to the college, he would have surely done it as his father had already donated 300 acres of land to the collage.
Speaking at a news conference at the press club, District Naib Nazim Hameed Buledi, Kotri Taluka Nazim Abdur Rehman Memon, Sehwan Taluka Nazim Sikandar Rahupoto, Bubak UC Nazim Rais Faqirdad and PPP leaders Pir Bux Khaskheli, ex-MNA and Dr Mohan alleged that under a planned conspiracy, Sindhi villages and other places were being grabbed and later demolished.
They said that in furtherance of the conspiracy, houses in Safar Khaskheli goth had been demolished by the Petaro Cadet College administration and many a villager were injured in the attack.
They said that the administration witnessed the excesses as spectators and instead of taking action against the college administration, a false case was registered not only against the villagers but also against the district nazim.
