KARACHI, Nov 9: Speakers at a rally organised by the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal at Banaras Chowk here on Thursday to condemn the recent bombing of a seminary in Bajaur Agency said that a government that spilled blood of its own people and failed to protect its own troops had no right to rule over the country.
Dr Mairajul Huda Siddiqui, MNA Laeeq Khan, MPA Hameedullah Khan, Qazi Ahmed Noorani and Allama Nazir Abbas Naqvi and several other MMA leaders addressed the rally.
Terming the Musharraf government’s policies ‘detrimental to national interests’, they said the both Bajaur and Dargai incidents were a matter of concern for the people of Pakistan. The government, they said, should learn a lesson from the defeat of President Bush’s party as American people had rejected his policies.
They warned that if Madressahs and mosques were not secure, then Pervez Musharraf would not remain secure as the day was not far when people would unite under the banner of MMA to get rid of the oppressive rule.
Accusing the rulers of pitting the countrymen and army against each other, Dr Siddiqui strongly condemned attacks on mosques and religious seminaries during the Musharraf regime, and warned that Muslim would lay down his life but would not tolerate desecration of mosques. On this occasion, MNA Laeeq Khan warned that if any attempt was made to get the Select Committee’s Bill on women’s rights passed at the next session of the National Assembly, MMA members of the house would quit the assemblies.
Hameedullah Khan said that those involved in the military operations in Waziristan and Balochistan had always caused harm to the country. “Gen Musharraf’s belief that he would rule the country for the rest of his life because of US support and blessings is mere an illusion,” he said, warning that the day the masses stood up against his repressive policies and actions, the ruling clique would find no place to hide.
Nazir Abbas Naqvi said that Gen Musharraf would be held accountable for all his anti-Islam acts.
Qazi Ahmad Noorani said that whenever anti-Islam conspiracy would be hatched, Mujahids would meet the challenge from enemies of Islam. He said the blood spilled in Bajaur was bound to bring about the Islamic revolution in the country.
