Call for duty withdrawal

SIALKOT, Nov 7: Exporters and manufacturers of musical instruments have expressed their concern over the step-motherly treatment with this cottage industry which is fetching foreign exchange to the tune of Rs4 billion annually.

Talking to newsmen here on Tuesday, Musical Instruments Manufacturers and Exporters Association of Pakistan chairman Muhammad Naeem Akhtar said that the 65-year-old industry had been a victim of neglect.

He urged the government to declare import of all musical instruments related items duty free and introduce music classes at primary level for flourishing the industry. — Correspondent
