SI, 10 others booked for slaying PML-N man

FAISALABAD, Nov 1: Jaranwala police have registered a case against former SHO of People’s Colony police station and 10 others for killing city PML-N president Haji Asghar Ali and his driver the other day.

Irfan Asghar, the son of Haji Asghar, alleged that former SHO Sub-Inspector Rana Atif and 10 others killed his father and his driver on Jaranwala Road when they were on way home.

He said the SI had killed his brother Imran in a staged encounter a couple of months ago and was threatening his father with dire consequences for pursuing the case.

The case was registered against Rana Atif, Bage Shah, Basharat Shah and eight unidentified people.

Saddar SP Tauqeer Hayat said the family nominated only three people in a written application. No one of them could be arrested yet, he added.

new techniques: German Engineering Federation managing director Thomas Waldmann has said that production can’t be increased without adopting new technology.

He was speaking at a press conference along with deputy managing director of Messe Munchen Gmbh, Eugen Egetenmeir, and federation’s representative in Pakistan Ayaz Ahmed on Wednesday in connection with the International Textile Machinery Exhibition (ITMA) scheduled to be held in Munich, Germany, in September next year.

Mr Waldmann and Mr Egetenmeir are visiting different cities to meet businessmen to ensure their participation in the exhibition.

Mr Waldmann said the ITMA would enable entrepreneurs to buy modern machinery to meet future challenges.

He said at exhibition floor exhibitors and visitors could expect wide range of machines, accessories and innovations.

“The event will also facilitate customers to resolve their problems,” he added.

Later, newsmen were briefed on the textile machinery exports according to which 66.5 per cent were exported from Europe, 27.7 per cent from Asia and 5.9 per cent from North America.
