DERA GHAZI KHAN, Oct 31: Grown-up trees along Kachehri road are being removed by the tehsil municipal administration without seeking a no-objection certificate from the department concerned.

Environment department spokesman Mr Rauf told Dawn that cutting of green trees was a heinous offence and the department would serve notice to tehsil nazim and tehsil municipal administrator.

He further added that city needed more plantation for clean and healthy atmosphere but the TMA was depriving the city of greenery in the name of development.

Tehsil municipal administrator Mr Zubair Wattoo claimed that the trees were the property of TMA and they were authorized to cut them for the purpose of road widening and that there was no need to get permission from any department.
